Lol, don't worry about it. Don't necessarily want to get into the origins of "tipping" and my view/ philosophy around it.

I never really understood my companies no gifting policy until I started punting. Essentially, at work, for me to give or receive a gift I need to declare it and obtain approval from an ethics committee. So I just decline all gifts because it's not worth the effort/ risk/ having someone cross examine my motives and personal connections. But, from an ethics perspective, a gift between strangers is often not just a gift, their is a motive behind it, whether transparent or suppressed.

When I first started punting, I'd always bring a gift, until I got into a difficult situation. By difficult, I don't mean bad. But essentially a SP put me through an ethics interrogation. So now I dont, except occasionally and with much caution.

Another, whom I visited regularly, offered me a free service and I left something afterwards.

I think with you I took advantage of one of your big discounts, it could be that I felt like I was taking advantage of you, and added something to bring the fee closer to the going rate. It wouldnt be a tip in my mind at least, until the different exceeded the value of the full price. Given the size of the discount, I doubt it was that much. But I honestly don't recall. I recall the service very well though. And the person. Sweet memories. I guess thats the sign of a professional service. When you forget what you spent and only remember what you felt.
