Straw man.

The Tellytubby addressed reasonably observed facts where you (at this time, and others) leapt to several suppositions drawn from a variety of premise founded on either a questionable understanding of the merits offered by either parties in that particular scenario, or a purposeful deception in aide of the straw man you wish to construct.

Either way, it's circular logic, and a closed mind gathers no thoughts.

As Cunnilingus quoted, but from a different author (and I'm paraphrasing here while also adding some of my own) :

Your (the indefinite article) insistence on being offended does not preclude my own right to be offensive.

How one reacts to an otherwise innocuous statement speaks more loudly to how one views oneself bathed in the illuminatory hue of the statement, than it enlightens about the statement itself.

But in this debate and so many others here, that little fact seems to be lost, and then it turns into infantile mudslinging on a tit for tat, rinse, repeat, rehash basis.

Bit tiresome.

I confess I don't understand this post. But that's to be expected I am just a dumb punter.

What I was getting at, is that your arguments are valid, but I don't think the intended audience has the capacity to see beyond their hateful predisposition for long enough to appreciate the fundamental which is that just because Observer A offers "Look, the sky is pink" and believes it with their entire being, the rest of the population will suddenly discard their belief that the sky is in fact blue in favour of pink, just because Observer A said so.

In fact, most would offer Observer A a subscription to the kids club, clinical therapy, and possibly hard core neurochemical intervention.

To get back to what the OP was getting at, I agree.

However, this is an open forum, with public participation from anyone inclined to do so.

That really makes it very simple : If you don't enjoy having the piss beaten out of you with words, then don't simply attack the person initiating a conversation.

If you disagree with their views, address the views, debate the merits, enjoy the argument.

But if you, as is mostly the case, choose to bully, belittle or demean someone seeking engagement, then prepare for hellfire and marshmallows by way of return, because you invited it.

And for the love of dog, regardless of what you may be going through in life, or what loss you may have suffered, posting when obviously inebriated or intoxicated does not give you a pass.

Be nice, or be fucked, and not in the cash exchanging hands, hopefully a good time for all parties involved kind of way.

Aha - I thought that was it but wasn't sure.
Arwhen is a smart lady when she wants to be but she tends to fire from the hip without much thought (and for every finger I point at her I have 3 pointing back at myself, and I am aware of that). The most confusing thing about her is that in some posts she seems like the nicest lady in the world and in others ... well not quite so much. But I suppose that's the human condition isn't it? We're all a mixture of opposites.

While I appreciate the quote, I don't think you grasp the circular logic of it all.

Always just until it is acknowledged, I mean clearly, that is what motivates me, right ? :-}

Now I'm off to go have a silent Sunday evening.
