Room you will need a Gas heater. Oils you can maybe get those banmarie or chaffing dishes that are kept warm with tea light candles. It will give the room some ambiance as well. Or just pour a double brandy neat for the both of you... sigh...what I'm about to go do. Stay warm.

You can purchase an inverter. Small one R8500. No noise at all. Keeps a few lights on, and laptop, fibre line and a small oil heater
Approximately 4-6 hours electricity. When loadshedding hits, you won't even know..
Or a cheaper alternative, rechargeable lamps R280 each at game, gas heater R1000 Alva, with a gas bottle 9kg,R380

This loadshedding is a bitch

I run two small UPS's, one for the WIFI and Fibre the other to run TV and DSTV - just to avoid power spikes

Then an inverter to run small appliances

Then the generator to run large appliances i.e geysers washing machine Irons etc

Between stage 4 and 6 I am running close to 20 litres of diesel a day

Work that out

yes having these things around the house runing costs mega. that i was told a appliance for tv dstv and prob one lamp is about 10g. Gas is also nuts now and a 9 kg bottle before putin the arse reared his sicko head was 250 now 330 and to buy a new 9kg gas bottle is well into 500 rand. If you just on a rental and thinking of generator then it costs mega and the installation aint easy but of course all connected for you, but if only renting as said not worth it cos you cant take it with you. Its a big job to have that installed and also the noise, but during the day one or two hours running there cannot be complaints. People all undestand you have to run it due to shit we going through.

Gas heater solves 2 problems, Room gets heated and if you place the oils close to the heat should be better than ice cold ;-)

Gas heaters, gas stove, rechargable lamps and do not switch geyser on and off. Thats all you need really. Boil some water and put you container with oil into the water in a pretty container. If your room is warm the oil also stays warm for at least an hour booking. For 2-4 hrs loadshedding your geyser isnt affected too much if everybody takes a quick shower and if you leave the geyser on. Most of us dont do back to back bookings, so in a 2 hour period, you would only be doing 2 maybe 3 half hour clients or a single hour-2 hr booking. Ladies working from a private residence on their own, probably cope a bit better than high volume venues or lodges where they would have a few central geysers not 1 per room.
I charge all my phones about 2 jrs before scheduled cuts and with a blue tooth speaker, we have music. I get up early to do a load of laundry first thing in the morning and often do smaller loads throughout the day, between outages, to stay ahead. Besides I probably have enough towels to last several days.
So yeah, it just takes a little afjustment and planning but it needn't throw you out of joint too much

Also if you get yourself one of those small gas stoves you can warm water on that and put the oils in there to get and keep them warm. I use my small stove to make food and a nice hot cup of tea or coffee when the load shedding hits.
