By this argument I must not want or need anything ever.. lol...

But I get the jest of the post.

But if you have to do this kinda comparison to other things they actually turn out to be very cheap.. earn 500 a hour by a pair of shoes for work that cost 500 get 2 years wear out of them.. kinda cheap ain't it?

And how do you put a time value on memories . I go holiday spend thousands but build wonderful sweet memories? What would the hourly value be.. a lifetime of hours or a minute a day? ..

in this case it would be the cost of the trip. if you can go on holidays or are then this concept isnt entirely for you however the second part maybe.

i guess people want the financially free idea but want their comfort zone and its experiences more from the above posts

@Miss Red, ditto regarding the memories
Have a saying on one of the fridge magnets that says" take holidays whether you can afford them or not for the memories will be priceless "
Great insight.

Buzz your message will stick with the F.I.R.E brigade and the "I REALLY want a decent financial life brigade".

Thanks I appreciated it. I'll still punt but I'll think a bit harder about those 50/50 punts. No use spending a forgettable hour with a SP for nearly a full day of work. Rather get the Vaseline out, talk to Mrs Palmer and get an extra day of my life back.

Must admit I've had far too many forgettable and regrettable punts in the last 8yrs. I'd rather have saved the money and had a kinky week away in Zanzibar with a great SP who I get on with. Now that's value for money. A memory I'd keep for life. Something to smile about when I'm hacking away at work at night.

It will not be understood nor appreciated for what it is meant to be... as u put it..."A different perspective - not for everyone"

This could have been a continuation of another thread quite recently where there was talk about SP's and monies and having to use fake referrals for rentals etc etc. and wanting to leave this space and move onto to different things.

As they say...u can bring a horse to water but, u cannot make it drink.

Those that wish to understand it and apply it for what it is meant to be, will.

An entrepreneurial mind that wishes to start small, sacrifice some in the hope of growing will strive to reach that goal without feeling cheated or losing out on the good things.

Reminds me of "The Dragon's Den" where budget forecasts and bottom line is what matters...and with money comes freedom to choose as does investment and growth.

Nothing comes for free and best one be frugal with cash spend especially in these uncertain times . Not everybody has been blessed with business acumen nor too sure on how to begin saving, even if it be R10 on a daily basis

Thank u for the "microeconomics" post....i am sure many will find some value in it and take the time to read.

As they wrote in the Economist this week "You can never be sure what will happen In Lebanon. It is better to be prepared and have options".

Substitute Ukraine, Russia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Palestine, Afghanistan, Pakistan Lesotho etc for Lebanon.

We'd all do well to make sure we're frugal and spend our money wisely on financial emancipation and making memories we'll never forget.

Dear ONOT

That is exactly it

Financial emancipation does know to reap rewards and create memories most sweet without the stress of how next months bills might be met or, where to from here.

The way the world is turning and churning requires a very different financial mindset and best it be applied sooner rather than later.

RB.

The calculations make me confused.
I take monthly income minus all bills, petrol, clothes, savings etc. and the balance is my spending money. This amount can be used for various expenses, such as punting ;-)
