I'm well acquainted with how good causes work. But not everyone has the luxury of setting their own hours. I can only be in one place at a time, and right now keeping my job and feeding my family take preference, lest we become a charitable cause ourselves. The good thing is that when time isn't available, you can still contribute to good causes, which I do, so you can take your "people doing nothing" supposition and jump in a lake.
