In the past 6 months, the coronavirus has killed 0.006% of the world's population ie. 420 000 people out of 7.5 billion. Most of these being the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. In the same period, 26 million people died from other causes. Covid-19 will more than likely not even be in the top 10 causes of death in the world this year.
Yet ...... the global lockdowns and closure of business has and will continue to decimate the world economy with 100's of millions (some forecast even more than that) facing unemployment, closure and poverty while, the elites plunder.
Who would have thought that the so-called intelligent species on earth would allow itself to be conned and willingly surrender so meekly.
All that is left is freedom of thought, and even that is under threat.

Not saying I agree nor disagree with you. My question though, did you follow all the regulations and restrictions or did you rebel and went on with life as if there were none?

I thought the intelligent species had declared it a pandemic and some took precautions to limit the deaths. Some did very well ( New Zealand, Singapore etc) while others didn't and their people are dying ( USA, Brazil etc) ... so you see what happens when it runs riot.

Are you advocating that it should run rampant and kill anyone who is susceptible to it - thats not being intelligent or caring, more animal like??

I hope you followed the restrictions and not "death dealing" to the older and susceptible people of your neighbourhood?

Since it was declared a pandemic Covid is in top 10 of daily killings.

On its own it is it is approximately no 8. At its peak it was no 3 (Apr 13 _Apr19) and about no 16 since the first case was recorded.

It does not really make sense to compare 1 cause of death to the sum of millions of causes of death.

Ideally it should be compared to deaths of a similar type eg. Illness that are transmitted from person to person.

It is does not make senseto compare it to say Cancer or Cardiovascular diseases ad those are not infectious to others.

@Kooni. You put it in perspective. The issue is that this is a highly infectious disease. Many people are more concerned about passing it on to people who are in high risk categories , than contracting it themselves.

At the same time we are all impacted by the disease as a result of the decimation of the economy. This is particularly true of RSA where we are forced to open the economy at quite possibly the worst time from a disease control perspective.
