will level 3 mean we can get visitors? ;)

Probably not legally no, think only level 2.

But, national government has not said anything about level 3. Not sure why the Gauteng premier has made this announcement. Needs to come out of the horse's mouth.

Will all depend on what DMZ has to say about it, she seems to be wearing the pants these days. If we all respect each other and maintain or improve our hygiene and understand the risks involved then why not open up. There will still be travel restrictions and a curfew. Lets get smokers and those of us that enjoy a drink a chance to start living and trying to earn a living. My business has folded in this time, but would like to try again. Good luck to all the ladies and gents and stay as safe as you can.

Kooni
I am with you ion this, time to get back to a normal society. but interesting to see what the priorities is. People are more worried about getting alcohol and smokes than what they are about the education of there kids.

Do you not think drinking and smoking helps deal with the kids?

Sorry to burst your bubble people. I am a senior political journalist. It is not a given that Gauteng as a whole will move to level 3. At this stage, it is envisaged that Johannesburg, Cape Town, eThekwini, NMB and Ekurhuleni will stay at level 4. How that will be managed I don't know. The Premier cannot decide, all he can do is recommend to the NCC, the same as Premier Winde in the WC has done. It seems by both Premiers making their wishes public, they are trying to bully the NCC and Cabinet too obliging. Word that I'm hearing is that they're hearing none of it, especially with today's predictions that there will be a million cases and 40000 will die by November in SA.

Jip, what I thought. Would be interesting if you could share more of your insights if you don't mind.

Reading the death and infection rates to come.... its a death sentence to open up levels now

We have been reading many of these predictions over the last few weeks, still waiting for them to materialize. Don't get fooled by these fear mongering stories. The world can't stay locked up forever, at some point we must all adult a bit and live with it, following the measures of course.

Adonis30, thank you for your insight from close up, it confirms my & others thoughts.

Please also shed your thoughts as to why the dual courtcases against Government the DA brought forward, both challenging the constitutionality of a few rulings, take this long to process?

The fact of the matter here is that the cases (three, in fact) were brought before the High Court (although they're testing the constitutionality of lockdown, the ConCourt cannot be approached directly until the High Court rules that the issue is in fact a constitutional one). During lockdown there are limited staff in the courts and it is assumed that the court does not see the issue as urgent, in which case it will not be heard in a hurry. Also, given the fact that the president has indicated an imminent move to level 3, it seems less likely that the DA's cases will be heard as urgent.

So much truth just there. This is a catch22 situation for the government .. health of the people against the economic situation .. a real bummer if you ask me :(

Hmm, can't think of anything specific right now. Maybe just anything that you feel is relevant to the current situation but that most people might not understand or know about or have wrong. Very broad I know, but hopefully you know what I mean lol
