If you have spent time in any of the government hospitals over a weekend you would know that majority of the admissions are related to alcohol. Can you imagine the impact on the hospitals if you had lockdown with alcohol. Add the anticipated caseload for Coronavirus victims and it would be a disaster. 'Government hospitals over a weekend' so boozing is a weekend thing. My ex was a nursing sister so am aware of the goings on at a@e at Addington Hospital. Alcohol does make people do stupid things, especially youngsters, but ban them from driving and buying alcohol, don't punish everyone because you have an outside agenda. Is there any first world country that has banned the sale of alcohol that you know of?

The prohibition era in the USA was a ban on alcohol sales. Did not work out to well though nor has the ban of alcohol sales worked out to well now or cigarettes to be honest

Banning the sale of alcohol and cigarettes was a bad financial move. But healthwise, the ban was a good idea. A lot of smokers can't afford to buy cartons to stock, so they'll hustle and go for a pack every day or other day. That's contamination risks. Not forgetting thar smokers caugh a lot. If they are contaminated but stay healthy enough to go about their day, they'll contaminate more people.

Same thing can be said about alcohol. I have enough alcohol to last me 2 maybe 3 more months. That's because I'm not a heavy drinker. 4 bottles of liquor are more then enough to get me through the lockdown. Now if someone needs so much alcohol that they need to go out and buy it on a weekly basis, most likely they are heavy drinkers or alcoholics.

We also know that alcohol inhibits good decision making. Which means more irresponsible decisions, which means more risk taking. Is that something you want in a lockdown? No. Do you want drunk rowdy idiots making noise in your complex during a lockdown? No. Besides being bad decision juice, alcohol can be a health hazzard when abusively consumed. Do you want more people in hospitals? Again, NO.

So what is the upside of selling alcohol and cigarettes appart from the financial point of view? Forgive me but I don't see one. And I have been a drinker and smoker for more then 15 years.

As usual you clutching at straws. There is no outside agenda, drunk people are a menace to themselves and society in general. If you don't get the point about reducing violence or overwhelming the hospitals. You never will, it's a basic premise as eldridge explained.

I'm sure you know someone who might answer the banning question for you since you have so many connections.

What I was querying is why the ban is being implemented if it is not being done elsewhere?

'Drunk people' so once again proving you hate alcohol. If you have a beer or two on the weekends or a night, do you get drunk, absolutely not, so your bias is showing again. I get it, it is your right but why stop 99% of the population enjoying freedom of choice because of your hatred, very very selfish in my opinion
