The extention was never a question. At least to those of us who bother looking at what has been going on, on an international scale. Most likely this extention will be extended another 2 qeeks to cover the entire month of April.
Once we get real numbers, we may deduct more, but I would not be surprised if this goes on until June. Remember ladies and gents, winter is coming, and that doesn't bode well for us.

Meanwhile the countries that continue to be devastated (like the US) are countries that pursue your irresponsible line of thinking.
And you think social distancing is working very well in the townships (where it is impossible)? So you want to do social distancing in the work/retail space, but do not care about the hardship you cause the very poor who cannot work. - as long as they just don't come into your living space.....Yes, you make a lot of sense!

Lets face this, the extend as to how many will be infected / not infected are in our hand. The more we break the lock-down rules, the longer we will sit with the problem. In the greater scheme of things an additional 2 weeks is nothing. Rather 2 weeks now than 2 months later on in the year.
Something people must take in to consideration, testing in itself means nothing. You can be tested now, and by the time you get your results back, you could be infected. A negative test results only show that you were not infected at the time of testing.
I think it was a very brave but wise decision to extend the lock down with an additional 2 weeks. The success thereof is our responsibility, not only that of Government.

It is in fact working well in some townships - something you'd know if you weren't bubbled up in suburbia. Where it's primarily a challenge is in informal settlements, not townships themselves per se.
The fact that the very poor cannot work isn't a failure of social distancing - it's a failure of our current economic system that lacks sufficient social security. And when I say "our" I'm talking about the globe. Policies like Universal Basic Income should have been in place long before the crisis.

Exactly. All good and well to even consider that in first world countries. Completely fiscally impossible in developing countries - there simply isnt enough wealth and tax revenues .
