I am sure that many employers requires their staff to take leave days during lockdown. Question is, what type of leave should it be?

I am working from home so it cannot be annual leave.

If you not working from home then it's annual leave and if you don't have enough annual leave it's regarded as unpaid leave.
Should you work from home then no leave is required.

The unpaid leave should then be claimed from UIF. There is a form to be completed for this.

I was asked to submit business leave. I have not heard of this term before.

Without stating the obvious, these are extraordinary times.
Once the Government has imposed lockdown, it is obvious that employees, except those that fall under the "essential services" category, will not be able to attend work.
If they can work from home (at the discretion of the employer and depending on his/her operational needs), then this will be implemented without any impact on the employees' pay.
If an employee is not operationally needed to work from home and thus not able to render their services, then the "no work, no pay" principle applies.
However employers are encouraged to allow employees to use up their leave entitlements before implementing the 'no work, no pay" rule.
Thereafter, one can only pray that the catastrophic consequences of this pandemic does not force your company to close down or be retrenched.

Excellent, this would imply that the company are going to cover the costs, and not deduct it from your annual leave

If you are working from home then you are not on leave...if you have signed leave forms I suggest you either have those reversed or hand in your laptop and cellphone as you are meant to be on leave.

The government imposed the lockdown and if you are not part of the essential services then you should be paid accordingly. there are ways that the employer can recoup costs of paying staff to be at home via the Temporary Employer and Employee Relief Scheme

Caring and responsible employers that are unable to pay the full salaries of the workers they send home for their health and safety due to the lockdown are encouraged to apply for the Covid-19 TERS Benefit from the UIF by sending an email to [Send Message] from midnight tonight when the lockdown starts. Upon sending the email, applicants will receive an automated reply which outlines all the steps and details, including the requirements to claim benefits.
