I think what people must understand is that this 'new' virus won't just go away. Only thing we can do is slow its spread and infection rate as to not overwhelm the healthcare systems. Due to its nature, the spread is not able to be contained as well compared the other more recent and deadlier respiratory outbreaks.

The reality is that most people won't experience much more than the usual tickle, it's those with weakened immune systems that are at risk for the most part.

Our bodies are not yet used to this virus but over time as the number of people who are able to fight it off increase, the spread will slow down and even stop. We will develop our own immunity, individually and as a group. It's also likely this will become seasonal now...

Of course big pharma will come out and release a new vaccine (too late and ineffective tho).

The real issues won't be talked about obviously as ignorance and fear mongering is too easy. I'm not talking about conspiracy theory here, just reality. Our society is unhealthy and not built to cope well with this.

This shutdown, while a decent attempt, is still a bit of joke. The healthy should be working while those with compromised immune systems should be at home and isolated - have their immune systems boosted and eventually vaccinated first. We're all just going to suffer for longer at this rate while straining our already fragile economies.

Neither the problem nor the solutions are being dealt with adequately at the moment. The only country that managed it this way is China, but they are built for it...

Saw this one prick during an interview on tv in Western Cape .. according to him this entire virus thing is a lie and the government is just trying to make us dumb. It's this type of behavior that helps nothing towards the cause and lockdown !!!

I sometimes see comments like "for our survival" and "our future depends on it", as if this virus is so deadly that everyone will die. The whole point about all these measures is to slow it down, for medical care to be able to cope, not because the human race is going to go extinct. Some people don't get this.

The unfortunate thing is, that due to the way it is being handled, it has changed the world forever, and yes the future does depend on it, but for reasons other than everbody going to die. More of an economical and financial future.
