An investment is something that either earns you money or you sell for a profit .......

Is it easy to sell timeshare?

Waste of time, money and energy. What tangible thing do you actually own?

Don't have, but from what I hear from friends/family who do, I will say it's a waste of time and money.

I wouldn't say it's an investment unless it's a Christmas / New Years or Easter week
Example people charge 40k for a week over New Years in umhlanga and they only paid 200k for it
So 5 years and the initial outlay is recouped by or maybe 6 if you consider the levy of about 9k a year
There are no other costs
And you own it for life

I have a non-peak week and it costs me way less to take the family on a great holiday then if I had to pay per night

Well you really own a share of real estate. My time share is paid up. And I benefit from a two and a half week holiday at any of resorts listed. My favourite bring Ngwenya lodge... others are on the coast. I really think it is worth it. You know what you getting. Sure you must also pay a annual levy... but hell when you don't have to wash the dishes and bring extra towels etc.... its great.

So to answer your question: yes it is an investment.

It's an investment in a yearly holiday that may be cheaper than paying for your holiday every year in the long run, as a money making investment, no it is not an investment, you could probably make more money putting the cash in the bank
