Hi Guys

We would just like to apologise for the outage today. The problem was on Cloudflare's side (even though their page said "Cloudflare Johannesburg Working). You may confirm my claim by looking at Cloudflare's very own status page here: www.cloudflarestatus.com/

According to this page:

Investigating Network Related Issues in Johannesburg and Mombasa

Identified - The issue has been identified and a fix is being implemented.
Jan 21, 16:12 UTC

Investigating - We’re receiving reports of network related issues in Johannesburg and Mombasa.
Jan 21, 14:33 UTC

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Regards

The ESA Team

To provide further context, our problems were related to a critical SEACOM outage:

actually WACS was out as well. sorry for the ISPs who dont have enough diversity. there is no excuse really. we are fortunate as South Africa to have access to Eassy, Sat3, WACS and Seacom. i.e 4 submarine systems providing international bandwidth out of SA. so your ISP must take respobsibility for backing up on an alternate system if the one is down.

What a 24 hours we had! Wacs down. Seacom down. EIG down.
Methinks these were due to sabotage. improbable that so many systems go down at the UK segments. authorities are keeping mum
