@primebeef
Nanyuki Drive, I think it was Little Holland?
Wow, I had forgotten about that place.
Had some great times there, saw a blonde lady there on a regular basis, forgotten her name, it was so long ago.

Sardi's.. ?

Romance and Elegance, always had heavy territorial street wars.

Romance owned by Andrew Bakos, married to Poppy Bakos? Son Micki Bakos, so much history regarding this industry. Anyone know the outcome?

In the 80's Quartz and Beit street were alive with streetwalkers. R15 to R20 for pomp in your car.

Romance was definitely the best .
They even tried to make a boxing club gym upmarket men's club remember at the bottom end of town.

Also miss quirinale hotel -fun place to even just go for a drink.
I remember one night very late was pissed at Summit and I saw this hot petite young coloured girl fresh from Cape Town.
She gave me her room no.
Was too pissed to visit but went the next day with a mate.
She had 2 other buddies from Cape Town.
They had arrived 2 or 3 days before.
Lol we landed up having an orgy of note.
We only bought them drinks as they weren't working it was in the afternoon.
Those were the days.....

In the mid 80's there were also pick-up joints such as Moon City and Midnight Star in End street. Not hookers, but you'd have to have been totally clueless as to not pick up someone for the night. I was fairly clueless back then, but I still managed ok. I guess alcohol was the great leveler. I once went with 3 mates and we ended up 8 squashed in the car afterwards and we all went back to one of the mate's house for a good ol' time.
For those not in the know, those were places where one could mingle with other races, in the days before the apartheid laws started to crumble, so what we did was technically illegal, the shagging part at least. The dancing, live bands and music were great. And the black ladies weren't shy about hooking up with white guys. I wouldn't say they were dives, though a lot of people back then thought otherwise.
A real dive was the Europa Hotel in Hillbrow, now converted into flats. There was underage prostitution and other shit going on there. For that reason I never put foot into that place as I do have moral standards.

@primebeef
I remember that place opp the Black Steer in Yeoville.
I used to see a hot Italian lady there regularly.
Used to park my car outside in the street, never even crossed my mind it could be stolen, and it never was.
Nowdays you can't even park your car in the street anywhere.
I won't visit any place that doesn't have off-street parking.
