Ladies and gents, How did you decide on your user name?
I had plans to turn Muslim and was engaged to a Muslim man and he started calling me Somaya. I thought wtf? I have a say in naming myself why would I allow him to choose such an ugly name?And that's how Nadia originated. Most people call me Nadia and in 2019 a cuz came to visit and she said she wasn't surprised by the name though. When we were in our teens the girl cuzzies had a get together and we were talking about what we would have liked to be named. She said my reply was Nadia. I have no recollection of this at all. She wanted to be called Allison and my sis liked Rose but we were all scared of an Aunty Rose we knew that she changed her mind and decided on Melody. One cuz wanted to be Marguerite but she couldn't spell it.
Someone close to me had a daughter and the grandad wanted her to name the child Emmerentia. She decided on another simpler name cos that's a helluva long name to expect her kid to learn to write. She also couldn't spell the name.

My nickname is very similar and I didn't think id respond if someone called me by another name... Lil did I know..

My nickname in school was "Mamma Smurf", because I gave my lunch to the kids that didn't had.
Now it's "Miertjie" (Ant) cos I'm such a workoholic. Hubby calls me "Peanut".
But Liza is short for my full name. Elizabeth.
