Now the uk. Family friend is a nurse. Just talked to her. Minutes ago. She is treating covid patients. Gov does not want them to use ppe (i think these the full asmat suits) when treating other patients unless they have been diagnosed with covid.
Health personell not being tested because if they positive they are sent home. Gov cannot afford it.
Some of her colleagues already shown symptoms such as cough (no fever) and cannot smell things and taste is going. Yet they continue coming to work. This is in London.
She thankfully had 10 days holidays already booked. Said that the next 14 days will be hell on earth in the UK the way things are going. Was almost in tears as she thinks she may have it as she shares an office with dozens of other nurses and she also knows there there is little she can do.
Sent her daughter to stay with her friend as she is a single mom. She is self isolating now.
The gov opened the shops early for care staff. All quuing. But then she says there are reports of fake nhs cards to be in those queues.
That is London now. Today.

Yes, the popular opinion here.
I made my point!
Peace out!!!!
Now to the answer.. Keep the economy afloat. But from local people. Reach out to farmers.. Buy local. Thousands of people will lose their jobs but if you buy local you maybe able to keep a few of those.
South Africa was under sanctions and it survived for decades. So what is different now?
Barter things if you got to. Make a plan.
When people say the economy is in shit they normally mean the banks and insurance industry.. The guy on the ground will need to make a plan.
If all you know to do is to do banking and insurance stuff. Well reskill. Grow veg.
