Good day all.

As all you you have noticed there has been a request that we all do something for charity especially abused children.

Myself and jemma have been talking today and have come up with this idea.

Every month the teddy bear clinic has what is called a court orientation day where all the little kiddies who are brave enough to tell their story and hope for justice come for counseling and a general fun day.

Our proposal is this- to sponsor one of these days and make up boxes with goodies inside that can help on the road to recovery the list of goodies are as such.

1. a mood book/diary where they can express their emotions are write down their thoughts a form of cognitive therapy.

2. a soft toy or teddy- comforter that has no connotation to the outside world or their past.

3. coloring pencils

4. a juice

5. sweets and chips

if anyone can add some more ideas please feel free.

The sponsoring of the actual day we need to discuss more with the clinic as they have different clinics around Johannesburg and we were thinking of maby taking turns with a different clinic every month but that will be determined by the ongoing support of this site and the people on it.

For those that would like to help but prefer to stay quiet please have a look at the teddy bear clinic they are really an amazing organisation with so many options available to those that want to to their bit and they have a BBE rating of 98%.

I take my hat off to the kids who actually have the guts to go the legal route as it is a nightmare.

Thanks all for looking at assisting with my charity choice. I am in and willing to take this all the way. I don't have knowledge of the requirements for the kids but will def assist financially as I can and will give up time and resources to assist as required.

I think that what Anastasia is trying to say is that companies can benefit on BBBEE scoring by donating to certain rated charities so therefore if companies donate, they can get BBBEE rating points.

Allow me to explain.

In order for companies to have a BBE rating they need to have a black business partner but as a business you can nominate a charity as that partner and thereby get a certain rating for your own business.

The percentage of the actual charity indicates the color percentage(please people don't make this a racist debate) or shall we shay the less fortunate.

Correct, so this rating will help the donating biz to up their own rating. Many businesses buy their rating this way, pls be aware of this fact.
The other side of this medal is that those organizations who are off the countrywide-average scale, and they are many, are crying for help, as consequentially they get less funds in.
Not to hijack this thread but this is something few know, but should know. As a biz owner you cannot just pick a charity you like, they MUST have this humankind-unworthy rating.
