Could someone please help me resolve an issue?

I've had to fix my car, which cost a tiny fortune.
I agreed to pay off per week, but I've noticed 2 invoices, which are NOT legit.
The amount, when mechanic dropped my car off, was way over the initial amount quoted.
He Left me with all my invoices, however...
2 Invoices were not Vat compliant.

I've called the company, and they confirmed that those invoices did not come from them.

I have my car back.

How, and what would be the best way to proceed?
Fakes are in the region of 5k...

Please help?

Before I contact the mechanic, who expects me to pay those 'bills' what are my options?

Lawyer up.
Get in writing from company that the invoices are not theirs /fake. Lay a charge with the feds fraud squad. Attempted extortion.

Thank you, I have details of said company, he tried to 'extort' so to speak.
I'm not wanting to go the lawyer up route, as I obviously can't afford a lawyer.

I'd rather deal with this, with the least amount of complications.
Hence, I said, WhatsApp.
I'm rather, private.
