I have recently experienced a few condoms break and have wondered how common it is for everyone else? Curiously none have been with cheap condoms and most were used within 1 or 2 months of purchase.

Usually get tested for a few STD's after and its getting kinda expensive.

I have had 4 break in the last 6 months which I think translates to around 4 out of 25-30 condoms.

Any insights?
Or any particular brands you would recommend?

Durex Extra Safe is my most reliable condom, doesn't matter the size. Skyn is also really good. I do hope you're keeping air out of the tip though (pinch the tip when you put it on) to prevent air.

The biggest reason for condom breaks is improper application. Surprisingly many wgs don't know how to apply it properly, they just slip it over. You need to leave a little extra at the tip to allow to movement and also the collection of the semen and squeeze the the air out of that tip bitall the way down to the end so there isn't the air bubble.

The government ones which a lot of wgs use are actually quite thick and safe, probably safer than cheaper retail ones. Draw back though for me specifically is it takes away a lot of the sensation. But try it, try stretching it down on your cock or even squeezing it with your nails, they're like impossible to puncture after putting on properly.

I only buy Skyn and Durex Reel Feel usually as I trust those and more feeling and never had an issue in quite a few 12 packs over the years. I also use Durex Featherlight Ultra in a push if I can't find the first two or they're too expensive.

I have done the whole leave extra space at the tip thing ever since I first had a condom break. Haven't really seen any air that needed to be squeezed out but will keep that in mind next time.

If I recall correctly I think I have had 3 Durex Featherlight / light ultra break in the last 2 years. So I was assuming it had to do with the thickness of the condom. Non of the ribbed condoms have given me problems to date.

I might give Durex real feel or Skyn a try just to see.

Totally agree. I can't even imagine how many more would have broken if no lube was involved.

The most reliable condom is a condom that is applied correctly, this I can do with my mouth, no air bubbles,lube lube more lube

I will add that the lube also plays a big role:

Oil based lube and condom breaks,

Mineral oil and non-polar solvents are able to interact with the latex polymer really well, diminishing the interactions between the individual polymer chains to each other, hence causing a weakening in the material and the break down of latex condoms.

Avoid oil, go for a water based lubes- unless you have her dripping like a tap already!!

Also when people leave condoms somewhere warm/hot it can compromise the structure of the condom.
