Watching the defence Barrister cross examining the witnesses I got the impression that he crossed the line and badgered the witness.Surely the judge should offer a witness some protection against harassment?

Agree with you 100%. It is so obvious where he is going with his line of questioning, and M'Lady could have stopped it long ago. Quite pathetic and not even amusing any longer from both him and her.

Watched for about 30 minutes the other day and found that Roux character (defence) out of line.
He must have asked the witness the same question 5 times which she answered the same each time.
I blame the judge for not intervening and bringing some order to the proceedings.

If he crossed a line it would have been objected. This witness answered almost all questions with the same robotified answer. As M'Lady informed it is part of cross examination.

Lawyers don't have what we see as a 'conscience'. Instead they have properties by the coast, bushveld game farms etc.
But most end up going to hell anyway.

People need to remember. Everyone has a right to defence. Whether you agree with his methods or not, he is doing what he is legally obligated to do.
