Its Friday morning, the first day of lockdown, From the south of JHB a thick mist has drifted in and hangs over the region. Its as if the Corona Virus has symbolically arrived. Quite a scary thought and scene. As I sit in my study overlooking the highway from my home against the koppie, I'm thinking wWTF, didn't they get the memo. It's 6:30 and outside things look and sound like business as usual. I see cars and trucks moving in all directions, Is it possible that these people all render essential services? Can it be so difficult for everybody to make some sacrifices now in order to avoid a catastrophe of unknown proportions inn a couple of weeks' time? I cringe when I see the absolute ignorance displayed by society and some official thinking that their masks and blue gloves will save the day. The way they conduct themselves at roadblocks by touching all and everything that they come across more than likely spreads the virus. Can we no learn from China and Korea who got on top of things through discipline and decisive uncompromising action. At this rate and with this attitude we are likely to be the new Ital, Iran or Spain. Look after yourself because few others will. Be aware, be safe be a survivor.

I can't hear the traffic like I usually do at this time in central cbd sandton. I can only hear the birds.

In still in bed my usual sleep time.

Things are quite not the usual hustle and bustle of cars, hooters, bikes.

I had to draw an ewallet and I just said the same to my brother.At 6.30 in Benoni it looked like 6.30 on a Sunday. A queue at Spar of about 30 people waiting for them to open. They normally open at 6 but would probably have opened at 7 today.

They may be found remote services. Like WhatsApp stripping

It's not easy. The supply chain of essential services is huge. It's not only food manufacturing that must run but all supporting functions as well. If one of those factories fail to supply then the whole chain is broken and there won't be food.

Factories are limiting production and people on site but not everyone can stay.

Now you appreciate the sheer number of people working in the retail services sector, especially your supermarkets. All 4 big banks headquartered in JHB and have to keep running. Municipal worker numbers, 50% public transport capacity means more cars are needed on the road... The likes.

And I passed no single policeman or soldier driving the 12kms to my office this morning so I don't know how they plan to enforce this

Some arseholes are still jogging in my road. I've had to shut my business down and loose thousands and these pricks think they are on holiday!
