I didn't read the long stories of this thread but there certainly are wgs paying tax,and I'm fact I'd say the smart ones. They are the ones doing it right. Let's be realz they're not paying tax on every rand. But many register businesses of some sort that they run this money through. This allows them to do normal things. They can finance car and hoise purchases. Take cell phone contracts. Rent out property for work or living at normal rates as they have "employment" and income to back it up. 3 months bank statements with actual income. Thry can take student loans for their kids. They can even put themselves and their family on their company medical aid and get the tax benefits etc. sure they might only be declaring R50K of R250k cash received but being a "legal tax payer with legitimate income" has a lot of perks. SARS isn't gonna come asking how you paying for a 4 bedroom house and a German SUV when you're declaring income and showing the payments from those accounts either.
It's actually stupid not to do so. Now they can't finance anything. Buying a house is next to impossible as they need all the cash upfront. Buying a vehicle leaves you at the whims of the secondhand market. Renting is expensive as most rent to someone with no legitimate income and when they do it can be very very expensive. Taking things like cell phone, fibre contracts, clothing accounts etc is virtual impossible without declared income. Most can't get medical aid leaving them in a pinch when some medical emergency happens.
There are smart wgs here (in that respect) that are running legitimate business fronts for this work and paying tax and financing house and cars and even pension funds and RA's with it.

We're talking about paying taxes, not leverage based off the income that can be made or is made from the industry.

And here I thought the thread was about WG leaving SA after march and march protests.

The joke is on us.
SARS must have tapped punting as a new revenue source, we now not allowed to discuss anything else until Littlerascal reaches his targets.

JP69, the service providers that you speak of are in the minority. I've met a couple who managed to save and start businesses and they pay taxes from those businesses, but the majority are not in that bracket you're talking about.
