"The athlete also still faces the possibility of a jail sentence on three other charges.
The two charges of illegally discharging a firearm in a public place carry a maximum sentence of five years in jail each if he is found guilty, but no minimum sentence.
Meanwhile, the final charge of illegally possessing ammunition carries a maximum sentence of 15 years, but again there is no minimum sentence."
Can someone with a bit of knowledge on SA criminal law shed light on the accuracy of the above in regard to the sentence that each charge carries?
It seems the judge has not been swayed by the state beyond reasonable doubt on the murder charge and i guess that has to happen for a murder charge to stick, but i still believe the nutter shot through the door with the INTENTION to kill, FFS with those heavy calibre bullets did he think he was a 10 year old going to shoot a pigeon. I also believe he knew it was Reeva but he was in a uncontrollable rage. Just my opinion but i will respect the judges call.
Listening to the panelp experts on 199 it seems they are gobsmacked by the proceedings. One guy said he is glad he is not on the bench as he would hate do dig himself out of the hole it seems the judge has dug.I am certainly no legal expert but I look forward to tonights panel discussion, and I hope Ulrich Roux will be taking part.
