I don't think Ben's "deep hatred" is unjustified. Stereotypes are born out of generalisation, which although at face value might seem discriminatory, it is mostly observable fact.
If I had to generalise that women have bigger breasts than men, most would agree. Although at opposite ends of the spectrum, you would find chicks with with tiny beestings that barely fill an A cup, while a guy with heavy manboobs would put Dolly Parton to shame.

These fringe examples at the opposte ends do not represent the entire group.
Just like the vast majority of local nigerians involved in criminal activities, with small pockets of legit ones at the opposite end. Nigerians have earned this reputation worldwide.

Further, S.A citizens of all colors find nigerians distasteful, borne out of observing them and in some cases experiencing them firsthand.
We cannot whitewash the facts.

Fear and hatred is borne out of ignorance. My advice to all those with their anecdotal proof in life, to take a step back, take a deep breath and realise that we all ultimately the same species.

We are corrupted and one of the key goals in life is to be able to see beyond that, as that is where true change comes from.

No, they are not all racist, but quite a substantial number are racist to justify the stereotype.
Although people of European origin stank to high heaven during the Middle Ages, from my personal experiences with white wg's , I find them to have exceptionally high standards of personal hygiene, with rare exceptions.

This is a community which is subject to continuous stereotyping.
Some of them don't even speak Afrikaans as I had assumed. But alcohol abuse in the poorer coloured communities is a big problem.

Not at all. They share a common humanity with the rest of humankind. But there is a culture of criminality in a large section of the black community, not only in SA but all over the world. In Lisbon where there is a large expatriate Angolan community, petrol pump stations are robbed in the vicinity where they live.

They are most of them extremely astute when it comes to money and some of them are extremely wealthy( without the help of BEE) which excites the envy of non-Indians. This is also a community which is highly stereotyped.

No, some of them have very good taste. Yes they are constantly on the hunt for new sources of raw material to fuel their economy They have an extremely high work ethic.

I like the fact that you give such considered answers Ben, it shows me that you do consider that stereotypes does not necessarily equate to hard rules about communities.

With that in mind, I encourage you to consider a similar stance with the Nigerian people. Yes the chances of trouble may appear more when dealing with them, but as you beautifully described, it cannot be applied upfront always.

In short, let us treat each situation independently.

Let me also add, that I too discriminate and have been discriminated against as a result of my race and culture. This is ingrained in us as a society, from the way we insult to our daily conversation and thinking.
