Scientific rigor, requires us to prove that something exist and or equally that it doesn't exist. If neither can be done, it remains unknown and open for exploration. Only the lazy dismisses the unknown as non-existent. Gravity existed long before someone figured it out. It doesn't mean that it did not exist before then. It was just unknown to mankind
