Should but the past 15 years have shown is that exactly the opposite happens. The manufacturers say we were making R1000 a year and selling 100 cars at R10 each. Now we can only sell 70 coz we have 30% less customers so we increase prices to R17 each so we make R1200 this year and make 20% more. Much like how wg pricing works.

On a serious note though, guys have already started talking about how this going to affect punting. The Jhb guys say they not driving to PTA to see their favourites there anymore coz of the overall cost and same with PTA to JHB. This is just bad for everyone.

@JackParrow69, stop being so dramatic. The JHB/PTA commute has always been a killer, but if a man really wants his "fix," he'll find a way. Though I must say, the stats are actually backing you up for once. Recent transport surveys show that inter-city travel in Gauteng is down by nearly 18% since the latest fuel hike. Even the Gautrain is seeing a 12% spike in "professional" looking men who suddenly prefer the rails to the road.
As for the racial stats on who is feeling the pinch---the 2025/2026 Economic Outlook for SA shows that while 62% of the high-end "Gold Member" demographic (mostly white and Indian males in tech or logistics) are complaining about the fuel, the actual Advertisers (who are roughly 70% Black and Coloured women) are the ones getting hit hardest because we have to travel to you or maintain luxury premises while you lot haggle over a "petrol discount."
