At last count EL James sold over 70 million copies of Fifty Shades of Grey, most of which was bought by white western women. A book about domination, S&M and borderline abuse sold like hotcakes to feminist western women.
In law enforcement circles, this would be called a "clue".
The paradox is not lost. They campaign extensively for respect, ethical treatment of women, yet buy millions of copies of a book that is in total contrast to what they're fighting for!!

So what does this have to do with our nigerian friends?

Not so sure about valiente's post. I think this is generalising at best. I dont know if there is a fiber of truth to "SOME" of it, but I wouldnt take anything said as fact. 70 million books sold (50 shades of Grey). I already know 2 "non-females" who have read it (myself and valiente), how many more? This is a book dealing with sexual fantasy and has no correlation to the discussion sparked by this thread.

I think it is unfair to associate BDSM with rape and abuse. My understanding may be limited, but I am sure these 2 deal with different parts of our psyche. And to link these 2 would do serious disservice to a very serious topic ie rape, abuse and human trafficking.
