Generally speaking, profiles that seem to good to be true, are fake. Response rates are low especially if you are male. Many sites have something like ten male members for every female member. Being a woman is therefore an advantage. They often get much more contacts that they can reasonably respond to. Those that are attractive are overloaded. It is very time consuming working through all the fake and indifferent profiles, that's the main reason I dropped dating sites.
Don't trust those sites these days, as some mention, lot of fake profiles and scammers.
