The gulf states are allowing the US to stage attacks from their territory so they are de-facto involved. And Israel is the one that started striking oil and gas infrastructure. Iran is not 'taking everyone else down with them'.

Politicians have always known that attacking Iran would cause an oil/gas crisis which made them think twice. Incidentally oil and gas shipments are moving through the straits but it depends on to whom and if they are paying in Yuan or not. South Africa should be OK under this scheme aside from a price increase.
