First of all I would like to politely ask everyone commenting on this topic to respect each other's opinions. This is NOT a debate of who is right and who is wrong. I simply would like to read the comments and people's opinions...

During a really good conversation I was faced with an opinion from another woman:

Escorts and sex work may be helping to prevent rape.

It's a strong opinion, I didn't know how to respond or exactly how to feel about the opinion.

ASSUMING the reason behind this hypothetical rape statistic is sexual frustration.

Do you think, sex workers could possibly play a role in preventing rape from people who are not sexually stimulated due to being single or not getting sex, because a sex worker offers an alternative way to get sex?

I doubt it
The men/woman who rape have the urge to be in control and take what they want no matter how it affects anyone else
They wouldn't want to play by the rules or pay for what they feel they can just take when and where they want
* most times they were sexually hurt as children and feel that in order to heal they need to hurt others in the same way
They can always go on Tinder and have a one night stand but that's not what they want

I can't believe that statement is true. I don't get sex, but I'm not running around raping everyone. Rape is a power play by sick people and paying for sex will not change that.

Is there an scientific evidence regarding her statement. This has me thinking a bit.

It's a ridiculous opinion. Rape is non-consensual sex and it can happen to SWs as well, even in the context of an agreed transactional arrangement/booking.

Just my opinion.

I have to also just state clearly I do not agree, or disagree with the statement. I have no opinion on the statement.

So far from the PM's and the responses here, I think it's very interesting to see what people think of a statement as this.

A Pope from medieval times stated that prostitution is the sewer that runs through our homes and protects wives from the depravities of their husbands.

So.... maybe there may be a modicum of truth to what the person said. If certain types of men did not have the outlet our services provide then who knows what they may be forced to do.

We hear in our bookings what men verbalise, which is a reflection of their fantasy. And some guys can verbalise some scary stuff. I've been told by a client while he was inside me how he would love to rape me. In the moment it freaked me out but when thought is applied obviously this guy didn't and doesn't want to actually rape people and I don't think he would ever.

Those that do go that far in life are people who will take what they want regardless and wouldn't usually bother "relieving" themselves of the fantasy.

I am of the opinion that a rapist don't care, and that this industry won't reduce the number of times it happens.

I am off the opinion that a very large number of ladies in this industry fall victim to rapists, and due to their proffesion, they don't report the incidents.

On the contrary sex workers (and porn for that matter) could actually encourage rape by giving men the incorrect perception that all women always want sex.
