The question is not really relevant. The ladies are not in the business of forming emotional connections and the attractiveness (or lack thereof) of punters is technically a non-issue. A punter would also form an emotional connection at his peril.

What is relevant is hygiene and cleanliness, and good manners and respect is more appreciated I'd say.

So right Saintpeter. Its irrelevant to a WG. If we had to cut out all the old, unattractive guys, we'd never make a living...that's the short, undiplomatic, non-ass-kissing answer.

Have a look at a venue with a bar. Who are the ladies gonna hang around- the hunk who's been nursing one beer all evening and doesn't even buy a lady a drink and wants to haggle about the fees? Or the outoppie with the boep who's buying ladies Strawberry Daquiris and books several ladies on a night out punting and is known to pay handsomely?
I know that sounds shallow, but that's how it is.
And as much as some WGs will deny it, I've yet to see WGs keeping company with guys who can't afford their services purely 'cos he's good-looking.

Ivanka, I have actually asked some of the better girls what they think. I fit your description but I am a gentleman and clean. I treat the ladies with the utmost respect and I think that's what they want. The fact that I'm fat, old and not Tom Selleck doesn't really matter. In fact, the young, nice bod and good looking ones can be more work than us oldies. (This is what I was told)
