Question about car guards @ venues

So I'm very new to punting. The other day I visited a venue that had a car guard opening or closing the gates (double gate system).
After I was done at the venue he hinted that I could give him a tip.
Here's my question: What's the standard tip for the guards?

My tip's normally shrivelled by that time, never even thought of offering it to them.
