I bought a R5.00c punting sim a few months ago and was credited with tons of data three months in a row and then it stopped and now it started again. I was just credit with the below and got these two sms's. I checked my balances and its really there:

"You have been credited with 10GB Telkom Anytime data courtesy of UNISA. Expires 26 July. No top-ups. Please use data wisely for online learning.

You have been credited with 20GB Night Surfer data courtesy of UNISA. Expires 26 July. No top-ups. Please use data wisely for online learning."

Telecommunication providers such as MTN, Vodacom etc recycle numbers that havent been used within 90 days. Further because of the pandemic, UNISA got sponsors to provide Data to their students so they can access online learning content as well as for exams.

Its seems like some UNISA student didnt use his SIM for more than 90 days and you were the lucky guy to get the recycled number which is being recurringly topped up with data from Telkom ....

I regularly receive airtime. And its not from regulars or punters. Also a pre-rica'd phone. Often transactions are duplicated. I think someone doesn't know his own number and thus repeats the transaction cos his number hasnt been recharged. I have gotten thousands over the last 5 years or so. A few months ago I got 2xR275. As if that wasn't enough I got 2x R55 a week later.

That's it, I'm buying two more punting simcards today.

But doesnt the data run out after one month if not used? It does not roll over to the next month so you must use it within the month of getting it? Im pretty clueless with tech stuff. I am on contract with voda and they used to load me 5gigs a month, which is not enough. so i went to them and took out new contract and now have 20 gigs pm for less money per month. How the hell does that one work? These providers are all thieves any way/ s
