I have to say the fist time i got a call from "police officer" i nearly shat myself. The second time around i was calm but acted scared, then i mentioned that i should join the lady in the same prison. Then he was confused, when i said last time i checked prostitution is illegal in S-A so why do you want to arrest me and not the person who literally confessed to a crime, he hung up immediately.

use a app like true caller .. identifies these scammers. Have logged the number as a scammer already

Just inform a clued up fellow punter that is quite active on the forums. I have been asked not to name but you guys will know who he is with minimal effort. He got me out of a jam and takes no shit from the fake cops or the bitches that share punter info.

Except it is not illegal for the lady to sell sex ... It is illegal to buy it or operate a brothel. Even there there is a moratorium on prosecutions.

Unfortunately not true. For the longest time, the sale of sex was illegal and the purchaser could only be convicted as an accomplice to the act. This was under the Sexual Offences Act of 1957 makes engaging in sexual acts for a reward a criminal offense.

This was "corrected" with the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act of 2007 due to a Constitutional Court ruling which found this to be unfair discrimination. This also explicitly made the purchase a crime.

The 1957 Act did, and still does, cover running brothels too.

Yes but as of 3 August 2026, it's still illegal. Decriminalization still requires legislative changes to come into effect.
