Wasn't saying they're in the majority. It's only the financially smart ones that would do so which is definitely the minority.

My point was that they're not doing it wrong if they pay tax. For the many reasons I mentioned, it's probably a very good thing for them to pay tax. Make no mistake, they're only declaring just enough income to meet the needs of those things they want to use the legal income for so the tax paid is minimal. Everything else is done in cash, undeclared, untaxed.

JP69

Agreed. You and I are on the same page.

Has the question on whether Meilin pays or not detailed the topic? Perhaps, and maybe that's a good thing.

Like when JP69 said "allows them to do normal things. They can finance car and hoise purchases. Take cell phone contracts. Rent out property for work or living at normal rates as they have "employment" and income to back it up. 3 months bank statements with actual income. Thry can take student loans for their kids. They can even put themselves and their family on their company medical aid "?

AKA leveraging this gig?

The joke is on us.

SARS must have tapped punting as a new revenue source, we now not allowed to discuss anything else until Littlerascal reaches his targets.

You welcome to discuss what you, start your own thread, don't highjack those of others to do so.

My friend. Just read two comments back. I was adding to an existing topic.

Didn't really want to engage on this topic but this comment caught my attention. Which jobs are you referring to here?

Blow jobs, rim jobs, hand jobs, construction jobs, waiting tables, cheffing, driving Ubers, digging trenches, accounting, coding ....

My fellow Saffers will drive an Uber during the day, but at night it is rare to have a Saffer driver - they let foreigners use their vehicles for late night fares.

I worked on a construction project over December / January and when the Mocambiquan and Zimbabwean construction workers were delayed at the border getting back into SA we tried with local workers ... and after so many mistakes and issues - we decided to wait for the foreigners to come back, because it was worth it!

Not saying it is right or wrong, but in many industries foreign workers are seen as harder workers, more reliable, and willing to do some of the shittier jobs

This narrative is so tired and old. Just say it was easier to wait for illegal foreigners because you can exploit them and under pat them.

Yes RB. When people respond to an existing topic, that is actually NOT hijacking a thread. You should try it sometime.

Now could you continue to improve my life with your silence please.

Who said they were illegal?

If you ever ran a construction project with proper compliance protocols you would know that all workers must have appropriate work permits if not citizens. DoL checks large scale sites. So your comment is both inaccurate and irrelevant. Salaries in the formal construction sector are negotiated and set (these are not "bakkie brigade" projects) so no exploitation going on - just an honest wage for an honest day's work!

My point related to work ethic, but you take it however you chose! I will give legal immigrants every opportunity I can because I think they add tremendously to our society.
