I've only seen a "female" condom once. They're a bit wider/looser than a "male" condom as they're not fitted. As far as I understand it's not quite as effective ito birth control (as good against STIs though) as the usual external condom and they're definitely more rare. The main benefit seems to be that the woman can insert it before sex (avoiding possible carelessness when excitementtakes over). Possibly good for ticking off your list but traditional condoms are probably your best bet.
