I struggle with the short trips too.
Best way for short trips (from experience):
1. Use bolt
2. Payment method on cash.
3. Be patient.
I've found bolt instead of Uber tend to help alot faster with shorter trips, and if you use cash, and they cancle. Or you cancle (if they messing around) there's no charges and you'll find another one very quick. Also try and do the more expensive one... same car,same driver, but they tend to accept quicker for R5 or R6 more...

The socials are always worth the effort in the end, i promise!
