I think she is trying to say that she entered this industry in order to survive and build a future for herself and she is proud of what she has been able to achieve without assistance from the banks like others have and doing this work is not easy and she is honest enough to admit it. She says that many guy's do not know the truth about the ladies thoughts and feelings as they see only what the ladies show them. She doesn't want to take health risks as she is afraid to jeopardize her future and she refuses to take shit from anyone.
